About Me:
My passion has always centered around working with children, adolescents, and young adults. It is a privilege to be a part of a client’s journey and to walk beside them while providing support, tools, and a safe place to come and be yourself. I am devoted to working collaboratively with my clients and families to facilitate an environment where each individual can flourish. I believe the counseling process thrives through a positive therapeutic relationship and creating a nurturing and safe environment for each client. I believe that every client has empowering strengths and has the ability to make positive changes toward their unique goals.
I have experience working with clients of all ages, but primarily working with ages 3 to 12, implementing Child-Centered Play Therapy techniques, where my goal is to provide a consistent therapeutic environment in which a child can experience full acceptance, empathy and support. I also implement and am trained in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and am currently obtaining my hours to become a Registered Play Therapist. I am also a Certified AutPlay® Therapy Provider, which is designed to meet the needs of neurodivergent children. As well, I am a TBRI (Trust-Based Relational Intervention) Practitioner, which I utilize to help navigate my work with clients and families with a history of trauma, adversity, and abuse.
I have over a year of experience working at non-profit organizations and on a college campus, such as The Parenting Center, TCU’s Riverside Counseling Clinic, and TCU’s Substance Use and Recovery Services. The children I support in the playroom often struggle to communicate big emotions, exhibit confidence, and self-regulation. The adolescents and young adults that I support may have or are experiencing anxiety, depression, and difficulties being confident in their own skin. During my time at TCU’s Substance Use and Recovery Services, I had the opportunity to discuss topics around substance abuse and addiction with college-aged students and assisted in leading campus-wide stigma reduction outreach events. I recognize the vulnerability stepping out and asking for support requires, and I want to be there every step of the way.
Hey y'all, most of my friends and family would describe me as outgoing, inviting, and passionate. In my free time, you can find me spending time with my husband walking our 100 lb German Shepherd (Ralph), spending time outdoors being active, on my spin bike, or enjoying a hot cup of coffee with a good book. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and never hesitate to try and learn something new.
